Extended Employment Program
CVS provides Extended Employment to persons who have disabilities, who presently lack the skills to function in competitive employment.
Extended employees are mainly referred by county departments of human services, the state Rehabilitation Services Branch and area school systems.
Following assessment of individuals' skills and needs, consumers receive training in specific work and vocational skills.
Pay for work performed is based upon prevailing rates in the communities and industries in which the work is done, and upon individual productivity.
Extended employees have choices of work in CVS's own facilities and in customer sites in the community.
Examples of kinds of work available are as follow:
Assembly
Clerical
Janitorial
Maid service / housekeeping
Parts hanging
Recycling

Bulk mail operations
Food services
Laundry
Machine operation
Material handling
Wood product assembly

Admission Criteria
- Have a reasonable vocational goal and plan.
- Competitive employment unavailable or unrealistic at present.
- In need of suppportive services, irrespective of productivity.
